2020 Autumn Chinese Live Program of ECUST

The COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading globally and College of International Education (CIE) decides to continue the online Chinese Language course in the autumn semester 2020 for the health of international students and the study plan for Chinese language confirmed as much as possible.

Welcome to join‘2020 Fall ECUST Chinese Live ’program. Study at ECUST, experience in Shanghai.

The announcement about the ECUST Chinese Language course in campus will be made later, so please pay attention to the updates of the WeChat Official Account of ‘ies_students’ and the official website of CIE, http://ies.ecust.edu.cn.

WHAT IS SPECIAL

  • Online live interactive Chinese courses
  • Listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities improved equably 
  • Class playback is available within specific time
  • Less than 25 students with a similar level of Chinese language will study in the same class which is available with at least 5 students
  • Enough teaching hours for developing intercultural communication competence
  • At the end of the course the qualified students will be granted with the completion certificate which are equivalent to the one done offline

WHO ARE AVAILABLE

Non-Chinese citizens Aged between 16-60 years old, in good physical and psychological health

WHEN TO APPLY

From now on till 1st September 2020

HOW LONG IT LASTS

From 7th September 2020 to 8th January 2021(From Monday to Friday, legal holidays excepted)

HOW TO LEARN

13:30-17:00, Beijing Time (4 teaching hours/day, 40 minutes/teaching hour, breaks included)

20 Teaching hours per week, 18 Weeks, 320 Teaching hours in total

Notes: There will be different kinds of online lectures about Chinese culture every week in addition to the sample timetable listed above.

Zhumu and WeChat

WHICH LEARNING DEVICES NEEDED

A smart phone or computer connected to the internet well and available to watch videos is enough and install the APP of Zhumu.

HOW MUCH IT COSTS

Application Fee: RMB400(About USD57)

Tuition: RMB6500(About USD920)

Note: The application fee will be waived if the applicants have ever studied in ECUST.

HOW TO APPLY

Register an account and log-in at http://apply.ecust.edu.cn or http://ecust.17gz.org, follow the procedure to finish the application

A. Choose ‘Self-sponsored’

B. Choose ‘General Chinese Language (Online)’

C. Finish the application form and submit it

Notes:

A. For current Chinese language students, please follow the Notice on Study Extension for Chinese Language Student to continue your study if you have further plan

B. For new students and the ones who studied at ECUST in fall semester 2019 and are not attending the current online courses, please submit your application form online according to the guide above

HOW TO GET ADMITTED

A. Submit the online application form

B. Pay the application fee (Non-refundable) and upload the receipt or the recommendation letter

C. Wait for the review result released (3-5 working days in general)

D. Receive the admission notes in the application system and by email if you are admitted

HOW ABOUT VISA

A. Please contact the non-degree program officers in CIE for supporting visa documents to extend your visa duration if you are currently in Shanghai now.

B. There is no need to apply for visa entering China if you are outside China.

HOW ABOUT DORMITORY

There is no accommodation service for this online program.

Please pay your fees before 1st September to the following account. And keep your receipt for double check later if necessary

HOW TO REFUND

A. The application for refund will be processed within the first week when there are trial classes if you are not satisfied with the classes, or tuition would not be refunded then.

B. You can apply for the refund of 2500 yuan if you have postponed your tuition for 2020 spring semester to this fall semester by 1st October, or the postponing or refunding would not be processed.

C. Please apply for postponing the tuition for 2020 fall semester to 2021 spring semester or getting the refund before October 1st if you would not take this online program, or the postponing or refunding would not be processed.

D. Please send your intent of postponing or refunding with the valid bank information (including full owner name, bank account and name of the bank branch) to gjyb@ecust.edu.cn.
