Residence Permit Application

Degree Students must apply for residence permit visa through CIE-ECUST.

Chinese Language students, advanced study students and exchange students whose study duration at ECUST exceeds 180 days shall apply for residence permit visa through CIE-ECUST.

The holders of residence permit processed by other university must apply residence permit through CIE-ECUST within the validity date.

The validity date of residence permit is in accordance with tuition payment.

How to Apply Residence Permit

X2 Visa

Residence permit application is not necessary.

X1 Visa

The stay duration of X1 visa after entry is no more than 30 days. Students shall come to the Admission Office of CIE to register and apply for residence permit once entering China before the visa expiration date.

Step1. Register and pay tuition and fees at CIE

Step2. Get physical examination report from Shanghai International Travel Healthcare Center

Students who need to take a physical examination or verify their own reports must get a certificate from the Admission office of CIE first and then go to Shanghai International Travel Healthcare Center after online appointment. If the report is not qualified, students should re-take the physical examination at the Center.  It takes 5 business days to get the physical examination report.

Step3.  Prepare the following documents and get the Visa Application Permit from the Admission Office of CIE.

A. Passport

B. Admission Notice in Chinese

C. Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202 /JW201).

D. Photocopy of Registration Form of Temporary Residence

E. Physical Examination Report issued by Shanghai International Travel Healthcare Center

F. 1 photo (33mm x 48mm)

Step4. Submit the documents to the authorized visa service agency by Shanghai Exit-entry Administration Bureau for residence permit application.
